In addition to working as a freelance and fiction writer, I am also an artist. I have worked in many mediums over the years, include upcycled fashion, mixed-media, and watercolor, but my current passion is collage. If I can cut it and glue it, I’ll use it in my art. I’ve also begun experimenting with graphic design and digital collage, mostly on Canva. The different mediums suit the needs of different clients and projects. This is a selection of work I’ve created for clients and links to the stories and books my images accompanied. Contact me for information about commissions.

Sometimes I keep stuff sitting around on my desk knowing that one day the perfect opportunity will come along for me to use them in a collage. Scraps of paper, a ribbon off of a package, or in this case, dried out daffodils.

I went back to collage for the cover of this prize-winning poetry collection. I used illustrations from a book about embroidery, vintage magazines, images from a calendar, and nature books to get the right composition. It’s one of my favorites to date.
FERSACE
by Nicole Tallman
Nicole had a very specific set of requests for her cover, including “Miami colors”, something about antlers, and a riff on the Versace logo. After a few iterations, we’re both really happy with what we ended up with. (Available 11/11/23)

I love how the cover for this poetry collection came out. It’s all done digitally, based on some suggestions from the author regarding her vision. It’s available for pre-order now at ELJ Editions. Click on the title above to go directly to the book page.
The project founder, Kristina Saccone, asked for imagery of vintage fairs and amusement parks to evoke the up and down experience of caring for our parents as they age. I used a selection of modern photos and scanned the final collage into a graphic design program to apply filters. I love how it turned out!

Becca asked for collage that included references to imagery from the book. Most of the action of the stories included happen in or around Albuquerque, so the map was my first thought. Colored pencils add color to a black and white medical illustration of a heart.

I was thrilled to be asked to create four pieces for this anthology of poetry inspired by the Marvel Universe. This terrific cover was created by Derek Mainhart, but you can see an example of my work on my blog here.
