Wednesday Writing Prompt: Kitchen

Trips we took to my grandparents’ home in Goshen, just west of Fayetteville, Arkansas, are the source of some of my favorite childhood memories. We wandered in the woods, stomped through the pastures, climbed limestone bluffs along the White river, and spent a lot of time around the dining table eating food harvested from their garden.

My grandmother canned and froze vegetables every summer, and it was in her home that I discovered the bliss of home-canned tomatoes. I try to recreate them, but haven’t quite mastered her flavor. They do look pretty in the cupboard though, and taste just as good as anything I would buy at the grocery store.

So many memories are made in kitchens every day – some, like the ones with my grandmother, are lovely to meditate on. Others, like the time I used baking soda instead of baking powder in some blueberry muffins…? Not so much.

Wednesday Writing Prompt: Kitchen

Today, I’m challenging you to think of some kitchen memories you have – good or bad – and write a blog post about them. On Sunday, I’ll post a link up here for you to share your post with us. If you already have a great post on the subject that you’d like to share, feel free to add that as well, or instead of a new one.

Thanks for reading, and participating, and feel free to share this prompt with your networks – the more the merrier!
