David Cook!
I watched the first few American Idol episodes this year – more than I watched in any season previous – and was just convinced, even only a few shows into it, that David Archuleta would take the prize. But I was wrong!
Of course, David Cook is more appealing to a wider audience. DA will appeal to a number of young women (girls) and some moms (my mother loves him), and people who like Michael Buble… but if you’re looking for a pop star, DC really does fill that bill perfectly. Aside from the ill-advised Brad Pitt-esque whiskers he’s sporting now, he’s quite a hunk. And his voice embodies that husky, sexy sound that is so popular now.
But this won’t be the last we see of DA, I’m sure. He’s got a fantastic future ahead of him and will almost certainly get a recording contract as well. My personal advice for him would be to hit Broadway. His personality and voice just SCREAMs “musical theatre” to me.
Anyway, the season’s over, and I saw just enough. Congratulations to both Davids!!
This was our first season to follow Idol, and we totally got screwed by the Tivo. We Tivo’d the finale so we could watch it after little girl went to bed. And so we sat on the couch and watched duet after duet, product placement after product placement, for two hours, and we get to the last three minutes where the make the big announcement. Dude hands Seacrest the envelope, making some spiel about how the votes were validated all all that crap, and then Seacrest says, “The next American Idol is…”
And then the Tivo stopped recording. Apparently the timing was slightly off. After much laughing and cursing, we went to the CNN website to find out the big news.
I didn’t watch a single episode BUT I did come on here to post about the Tivo thing. The Soup just talked about that and made fun of it. Obviously a lot of people had problems with it.
See… be like me and just watch meaningless things like Cops and you won’t be so upset if the end gets cut off.
