Saturday afternoon was stressful. Parents vs. teenagers and gnashing of teeth and threats and promises, and tough decisions and contemplation of scenarios… it was unpleasant, and my head hurt a lot.
So as I was out running some errands I decided I needed to run by a yard sale nearby. I spent a whopping $11 and bought a wonderful coffee table, two little baskets, some jack-o-lantern-shaped jingle bells (can you say Ghostfolk??) and two margarita glasses.
The table is a cream-colored shabby chic thing with woven rattan in the center of the top and on the shelf below. The shabbiness is a little too shabby for Hubby, so I’ll be working on that, and we may remove the rattan and put in tile or something else more modern and less country. But for $10, I’ll gladly dink around with it a bit.
The baskets will hold fabric and notions near my sewing machine, the glasses are for my mom to use in her crafty moments, and – as I said – the jingle bells will be used to create a new line of my folk. (see Artsy Fartsy set in my flickr site for examples)
Life is not always smooth, but the bumps can be used to my advantage if I let them be.
What a great bargain. I love to find those. I did a blog about shopping on the cheap and love to find that others can get good deals too. I love to find a bargain.
